We have information about our upcoming events, what's new with issues facing Washington State Geocachers and the WSGA.

The Washington State Geocaching Association was created for Geocaching enthusiasts in the state of Washington. To become a member, follow the "MEMBERSHIP" link at left. Members and non-members are also encouraged to subscribe to our mailing list. It's free, fun, and informative. Click the mailing list link on the menu for more information and to subscribe today.

The WSGA exists to:

• Promote Geocaching as an exciting, family-oriented activity that increases awareness of parks and trail systems.
• Provide opportunities for the Geocaching community to enjoy Geocaching in the area and to meet and socialize with like-minded Geocachers.
• Increase awareness of Geocaching issues in the area through interaction with other outdoor activity groups, Geocaching clubs, and the public.
• Educate Geocachers on low-impact Geocaching and promote stewardship of our natural resources.
• Educate other outdoor enthusiasts on Geocaching.
• Represent Geocaching interests in public forums and to recreation land managers.
• Actively promote the "Cache In Trash Out" program to help in the maintenance of parks and trail systems.

The Washington State Geocaching Association was founded on September 8, 2002. A group of interested geocachers met to discuss the formation of a statewide organization, in part because of a common goal to preserve Geocaching in state parks. Here is a photo of that original group:

The association was given the name that it has today. Officers were elected at this first meeting, including Seth! (Seth! Leary) as President and Moun10Bike (Jon Stanley) as Vice-President. Ddog-n-ma (Heidi Hudlow) and BillP3rd (Bill Parrot) were named Treasurer and Secretary, respectively.

Shortly after the formation of the WSGA, its bylaws were adopted.
